About Prop Firm Briefing
Built from the operator’s side of the desk.
I spent five years helping run a prop firm, including the parts traders argue about most: what an evaluation costs, how the drawdown is drawn, and who gets paid when a dispute lands. Prop Firm Briefing is what I learned on that side of the desk, written down and kept current.
Who is behind this
I did not arrive in prop trading from a trading desk. I arrived from marketing, which is an unfashionable thing to admit in this industry. Before any of it I worked at one of the UK’s top marketing firms on brand strategy and positioning. It is the reason I can read a prop firm’s pricing page and tell you what the business is trying to do, rather than what the copy says it does.
In 2013 I co-founded Trade Room Plus with Simon Massey, a live trading room that grew a large and loyal audience on YouTube. We ran it for the better part of a decade, and in that time we watched a pattern repeat itself: capable, disciplined traders stalling for a reason that had nothing to do with their trading. They had no capital to trade.
In November 2021, Simon, James Frangleton and I launched Funded Trading Plus to close that gap. I was a co-founder and owner, and the firm’s CMO through to the exit. In practice that meant far more than marketing: I helped set evaluation pricing, shaped drawdown policy, and sat in the room when payout disputes were argued out. I want to be precise about this, because the industry rewards people who overstate their part. I did not run that firm alone. Every major call, the pricing, the rule design and the acquisition itself, was made jointly by the executive team.
Instant Funding acquired Funded Trading Plus on 26 May 2026. It was a consolidation, not a rescue. The market had been correcting since 2024, and scale had quietly become the price of staying competitive. I stepped back from operating at that point.
What I kept was the vantage point. I know what a generous rule costs the firm that wrote it, why a consistency rule appears in one programme and not another, and what a quiet change to payout terms usually signals about the balance sheet underneath. That is what this site is built on.
The longer version, in my own words: Why This Site Exists and Why We Sold Funded Trading Plus to Instant Funding.
What Prop Firm Briefing is for
Prop firm coverage online is overwhelmingly written by people who have sat a challenge, not by people who have priced one. That produces a particular blind spot. A reviewer can tell you a rule felt unfair. They usually cannot tell you why the rule exists, what it protects the firm from, or what its absence would cost. This site is an attempt to close that gap, and to do it without pretending the commercial model does not exist.
01
Report from inside
Structural and operational facts before opinion. Unit economics, liquidity signals, rule design and the reasoning behind them, judged the way an operator would judge them.
02
Keep it current, and date it
Terms, pricing and offers move constantly in this industry. Everything we track carries a visible last-checked date, so you can judge how stale a claim is rather than guessing.
03
Say who is paying
This site earns from affiliate partnerships. Scores are set before commercial terms are discussed, and no firm has ever been given editorial approval. See the full disclosure.
How we work
A score is only worth anything if you can see how it was arrived at. Ours is not a vibe, and it is not weighted by what a firm pays.
The Briefing Score
Every firm is scored out of 10 across four named operational dimensions, each published alongside the overall figure so you can see which one is dragging: rule fairness, payout reliability, transparency and firm health. Scores are set from the research before any commercial conversation takes place, and no firm has ever been shown a review before publication or given approval over one.
The Briefing Standard: no affiliate deals with firms under 18 months old
Roughly one in every seven or eight retail prop firms trading at the start of 2024 was gone by the end of it, and the ones that collapse are almost always young. So we will not take an affiliate relationship with a firm that has been operating for less than eighteen months, however good the commission is. We may still write about one. We will not send you to it for money.
Checking, dating and pricing
Figures are verified against each firm’s own live pricing, rules and help-centre pages before anything is published, not lifted from a press release or another review site. Offers carry an “offer last checked” date so you can judge for yourself how stale a price is. Prices always lead in US dollars, because that is the currency traders shop in, and where a firm actually bills in something else we show the real billed amount alongside it rather than quietly presenting a conversion as the price.
Corrections
This industry moves quickly and we will get things wrong. When that happens the page is corrected and the correction is stated on it, rather than edited away silently. If you spot an error, email me and it will be looked at the same week.
Where I am conflicted
Stating this plainly is more useful than burying it. I co-founded Funded Trading Plus, and Funded Trading Plus was acquired by Instant Funding. Both firms are covered on this site, and both may appear as affiliate partners. I am not a neutral party on them, and it would be dishonest to present myself as one.
So the reviews of both carry that history at the top, in the piece, where you will actually read it. The moment a reader suspects the analysis is bent by a past ownership stake or a commission, the whole premise collapses. Credibility is the product here, not traffic to any one firm’s signup page.
Read them and judge for yourself: the Funded Trading Plus review and the Instant Funding review.
